Mangaluru: One of the coaches of the Madgaon-Mangaluru Central DEMU train today derailed at the railway junction in Mangaluru, throwing traffic on the Mumbai-Thiruvananthapuram rail sector out of gear.

There were no casualties, Railway officials said.

The derailment occurred soon after the train left the junction at 12.32 PM towards Mangaluru Central, they said.

There were 11 passengers in the train.

Meanwhile, the return trip of the Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) was cancelled and railways provided an unscheduled stop to Mangaluru Central-Mumbai LTT Matsyagandha Express at Mangaluru Junction to facilitate passengers waiting to board the DEMU to proceed with their planned journey.
