Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu:
A 24-year-old man, working as an assistant manager in a private financial firm, was arrested today on charges of raping a woman, running a self-help group in Coimbatore, on the promise of extending loans to its members.
The 38-year-old woman, who is unmarried and working as a tailor, has lodged a complaint with All Woman Police Station that one Paramasivam used to visit her house frequently in Ondipudur on the pretext of discussing lending loans to the members of the self-help group, police said.
During such a visit, he outraged her modesty and raped her, she alleged.
Based on the complaint, police nabbed Paramasivam, who reportedly told them that since the woman was elder to him, he was not willing to marry her, following which he was arrested and remanded to custody, police said.
