Bangalore:
The Karnataka high court on Thursday granted conditional bail to TP Muninarayanappa, a retired land acquisition officer and Santhosh, a middleman for their involvement in the multi-crore KIADB scam. Vacation bench single judge, justice V Jagannathan granted the bail, while allowing the bail petitions filed by the two accused.
The judge, however, directed them bail with conditions to furnish a personal bail bond of Rs1 lakh each, along with two likesome sureties. The judge also directed them to surrender their passports to their jurisdictional courts.
While Muninarayanappa has been asked to mark his presence every 15th and 30th of the month, Santhosh has been directed to mark his presence twice a week before the superintendent of police, Lokayukta, Bangalore.
Justice V Jagannathan observed, "The cases are not like murder. Since the case rests on the documents and it is already in possession of the investigating agency, bail can be granted by imposing strict conditions".
In his petition, Muninarayanappa contended that there was no complaint against him and the raids on him did not yield any material. He contended he had kidney-related health problems and has to undergo dialysis.
