Varanasi: A constable in Varanasi died after he fell unconscious while running in a competition to test physical fitness for promotion to the post of Head Constable, a police official said.
Constable Mahavir Pandey, 45, posted at Nawabgunj police station of Allahabad district, fell unconscious on Friday while running at PAC ground in Bhullanpur and was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead, DIG Lalji Shukla said.
The running test has been cancelled with an immediate effect, he added.
