Bijapur, Karnataka:
A police constable allegedly set his wife on fire after she failed to meet his demand for dowry and fled to escape arrest at Devarahippargi, 38 kms away from here on Saturday.
Police said the accused Rajasekhar Vaddar, who has been harassing his wife Anita, 22, for dowry, set her on fire after pouring kerosene.
The woman has been battling for life with serious burn injuries in a hospital, he said.
In the meanwhile, police arrested Vaddar's mother and sister who were also involved in harassing Anita for dowry and launched a hunt for the constable.
