New Delhi:
Twenty-eight-year-old Vrishabh Choudhary, who like any other student gave various competitive exams to carve a niche for himself, couldn't succeed and instead killed his mother on June 1, 2008, because of her constant nagging over the issue.
On Thursday morning, hours before committing suicide in Rohini Jail -where he was serving life imprisonment - Rishabh left behind a letter of repentance, addressing his father, two brothers and a friend.
"Choudhary was awake till late on Wednesday night. He wrote a letter, around eight to nine pages long, to his father Ravi Kishan Choudhary, two brothers and a friend, seeking forgiveness for his extreme step," said a senior jail officer.
In the letter, Vrishabh mentioned that he was in depression and was remorseful regarding his actions. "Please forgive me father. I should have taken care of you," stated his letter. "It seems he was quite distressed with his family problems. Also, his father spent a lot of money on his trial. His two brothers never supported him, it was his father who stood by him during the case," added the officer.
In 2008, the Prashant Vihar police had arrested Choudhary for allegedly killing his 50-year-old mother, Kailash Kumari, at his Rohini residence. He had been in jail since then and has been working as an assistant in jail's dispensary.
Choudhary was sentenced to life imprisonment by a Rohini court on March 29, 2010.
Choudhary, charged with mother's murder, was found hanging inside the prison dispensary of Rohini Jail on Thursday morning.
"The jail staff was counting the inmates when they found out that one inmate was missing. They checked inside the jail and found Choudhary hanging inside the dispensary with his shawl around his neck at 5.30am. He was sent to Babu Jagjiwan Ram Hospital for postmortem and his body was handed over to his family members," said a senior police officer.
