Ahmedabad:
In fifth major incident of its kind in last three months, a class VII student was beaten brutally by his school teacher in Jhunjhunu district. The incident occurred on Wednesday at Tai village under the Bisau police station area.
The boy, identified as Bilal, was first slapped and then hit with a stool by his teacher Dharam Pal for not picking up waste paper the former had thrown in the campus of Government Upper Primary School, Tai.
Although Bilal was rushed to the BDK Hospital in Jhunjhunu with grave injuries on his spinal cord on Wednesday, the police registered a case on Thursday night, said child rights activist Shiv Singh of Bal Adhikar Samrakshand Abhiyan, adding that the victim's family is being pressurised for a compromise.
The school's head teacher Rama Kant Mishra issued a show-cause notice to the teacher on the day of incident itself, but the accused has been absconding since then.
"The police have registered a case under section 324 and 341 of the IPC, while the charges of Juvenile Justice Act have not been slapped," Singh said.
