Ghaziabad: A couple, who married against their parents' wish in Australia, have approached the city police for protection after the girl's relatives threatened them of dire consequences, police said in Ghaziabad.
Mohit and Kaamna, both in their twenties and working in a bank in Melbourne, married in Australia two years back. They returned to the country after their contract expired.
Soon after their return, the girl's relatives started threatening them. Fearing an 'honour killing', the couple approached Ghaziabad SSP Raghubir Lal, who assured them of police protection.
Meanwhile, police has registered a case against five persons, including the girl's father and brother, they added.
