Bellary:
Karnataka Tourism Minister and mining magnate G Janardhana Reddy was on Friday denied
anticipatory bail in a criminal case by a local court which directed him to appear before it in person.
Judicial Magistrate First Class at Sandur K Amarnath had on December 30 last issued a non-bailable warrant against Reddy.
When the bail application filed by Reddy's lawyer Sidda Reddy came up for hearing today, the magistrate rejected it saying the minister should appear before the court. He then posted the case to February 3.
Tumti Naryanareddy, a mine owner, had filed a complaint accusing Reddy of demolishing boundary markings at an area between Tumti and Malpanagudi area bordering Karnataka-Andhra Pradesh.
Reddy's Obalapuram Mining Company in Andhra Pradesh is facing CBI investigation after the neighbouring state ordered a probe by the central agency into alleged illegal mining activities in the state.
