Jalandhar: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said CBI investigation in the killing of RSS leader Jagdish Gagneja is going on and the culprits would not be spared.
Mr Singh, who was here to pay tribute to Mr Gagneja, said the Centre has directed CBI to speed up the investigation in the case on the recommendation of the Punjab government.
Rajnath Singh, who was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, expressed satisfaction on the inputs provided by the state government in the case.
He assured the bereaved family of all support.
The Deputy Chief Minister paid tribute to the departed leader and called upon the people to give "strong reply" to "anti-national" and "anti-Punjab" forces trying to disturb the hard-earned peace and harmony in the state.
Mr Gagneja, who was RSS Punjab Seh Sanghchalak (second-in-command), was shot at in Jalandhar by unidentified assailants in August and died on September 22 after spending 47 days in a hospital.
Terming Mr Gagneja a "true patriot", Mr Badal said "he was votary of communal harmony who served the nation in various capacities".
The two leaders held separate meeting with the Mr Gagneja's family.
