Coimbatore:
About 30 persons, including women and children, had an harrowing experience today, stuck in a lift at a mall in Coimbatore for half an hour following an outage, before they were rescued.
The lift, carrying the customers, got stuck between the third and second floor, due to sudden power failure around 6 PM, police said.
Though the generator was switched on immediately, the lift remained stuck without moving up or down, and those trapped started screaming, police said.
Rescue and technical persons rushed to the spot and managed to pull the lift up to the third floor, and those trapped came out.
Some persons blamed overloading and power failure for the incident, they said.
