Ghaziabad:
An attempt by four armed dacoits to loot a temple in Sahibabad near Ghaziabad in the wee hours on Wednesday was foiled by devotees, police said.
According to police, the dacoits attempted to steal the idols of gods and their ornaments at the temple on Wednesday morning around 5 am.
However, the devotees who arrived for the early morning prayers pelted bricks and stones at the four persons and beat them with canes, the police said.
While one of the dacoits, identified as Kamlesh, was nabbed by the people and handed over to police, the other three are absconding.
Kamlesh is a local resident and has been sent to 14 days judicial custody after being produced before the magistrate, the police said.
