A 35-year-old dalit woman was allegedly immolated on Wednesday by her paramour after she refused to accompany him in Sehramau area here, police have said.
Rekha alias Chanda was first beaten and later set on fire by her paramour Shripal when she resisted the latter's effort to forcibly take her to his house in Atakhurd village on Wednesday morning, they said.
The victim's husband Jhabho has alleged that Shripal was blackmailing the victim for a long time on the pretext of the illicit relationship between them, police said.
However, Rekha, who has four children, refused to leave home which infuriated Shripal, police said, adding that the accused has been arrested.
