Moga (Punjab):
In a daring daytime heist, five men looted Rs 46,000 at gunpoint from a petrol pump at Moga-Jaladhar bypass in Punjab on Tuesday.
The men got down from a white Tata Safari and one of them asked the attendant to fill diesel worth Rs 2000 in the car. The others did a recce of the petrol pump and when the attendant reached out to take the money, the robbers pointed a gun to his head, beat him and took away his money and mobile phone. They also stole Rs 5000 from an Alto which had stopped there for refuelling.
The robbers then swept the petrol pump office and decamped with Rs 46,000, two LCD TVs and other valuables.
Though the men locked up the petrol pump employees, the incident was caught on 16 CCTV cameras installed at the filling station. The CCTV footage shows the faces of these men holding pistols.
A man later opened the gate and freed the employees. Petrol pump attendant Lakhwinder and owner Nitin Gupta later said they'd installed the Rs 16-lakh CCTV cameras on the advice of the police. Mr Gupta also said that he has asked the police to do something fast.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dharmkot, Gurmail Singh said that the police has gone through the CCTV footage. He assured that the robbers will be nabbed soon.
