Ghaziabad:
An 18-year-old girl and her mother died after they were allegedly poisoned by her debt-ridden father who attempted suicide in Modinagar area in Ghaziabad, police said.
Komal and Shashi (42) died after they consumed a soft drink laced with a poisonous substance. They were cremated before the police arrived, they said adding the relatives did not inform police about the incident.
Shiv Kumar (52), believed to be perturbed by his inability to repay his loans, also gave the drink to his 24-year old daughter Gudia before consuming it himself. Both were rushed to a hospital in Meerut where their condition is stated to be serious, they added.
A case against Kumar has been registered in this connection.
