In an unexpected turn of events, two cases of chain snatching were reported in Vijayanagar and Hulimavu police station, where the culprits returned the chains, warning the victim to wear real gold in future. KR Manjunath, a lecturer residing in Prashanth Nagar, reported that two motorcycle-borne men snatched his neighbour, Saraswati's chain at around 5.30am on her way back from her morning walk and returned it the next morning warning her to wear real gold in future. A similar incident happened at Venkateshwara Layout in BDA Layout in Hulimavu a month ago, when a Nagarthna's fake gold chain was snatched while on her way to buy milk, by two motorcycle borne men, who also returned it the next morning, said Nagaraj, a shop owner.
The police advised the public to inform them immediately when a chain is snatched, even if it is fake gold.
In another incident of chain snatching, two motorcycle borne men snatched a woman, Saraswati's chain in HRBR Layout on Wednesday and fled the scene. The police said that Saraswathi filed a complaint with the Banaswadi police station, alleging that her chain was snatched by two strangers, around 4 pm on her way back after buying milk. However, since she held her chain when the strangers tried to snatch it, they were able to snatch only a part of it worth `20,000, police said.
