Dehradun: An elephant was killed in a fight with another in Shyampur range of Haridwar forest division, forest department sources said here today.
The profusely bleeding carcass of the 15-year-old male elephant was found by forest guards during patrolling yesterday, they said.
Footmarks found in the area and deep wounds on the pachyderm's carcass suggest it was killed in a fight with another elephant.
The other elephant also must have been injured in the fight and a search is on to trace it, they said.
