Dehradun:
A Village Development Officer was shot dead by motorcycle-borne assailants outside his home in Dehradun, police said today.
Sahaspur VDO Divesh Kamboj was getting ready for office yesterday when the doorbell rang. As his wife opened the door three young men riding a motorcycle asked for Kamboj.
As the 43-year-old officer came out, the men opened fire on him. Three bullets hit the officer in the head.
The assailants fled immediately after the incident, SSP Keval Khurana said.
The officer was rushed to a private hospital in the city where doctors declared him dead.
SSP Khurana said the killers have been identified and efforts are on to arrest them.
A property dispute appears to be the reason behind the officer's killing, he said.
