New Delhi:
Commuters in several areas in the city may face difficulty as 1,600 Blueline buses will go off the roads from Sunday.
The buses are being shunted out from areas expected to be frequented by athletes, officials and visitors of the Commonwealth Games as part of city government's efforts to "improve the image of the city".
Transport department officials claimed commuters will not face any hardship as almost equal number of low-floor buses will be deployed in areas from where Blueline buses are being removed.
They said some Blueline buses will be allowed to ply on alternative routes while some others will have to restrict their movement to designated points.
Currently, nearly 2,400 Blueline buses are operating in over 600 routes in the national Capital. The government had earlier said the Blueline buses will be phased out before the Games.
