It was late on Thursday night. Sahil Gupta (22) was driving back home to Malviya Nagar from his garments shop in Dilshad Garden.

At around midnight, when he had reached near Bhairo Mandir near Pragati Maidan, Sahil's Maruti Swift rammed into a parked black Santro.

After recovering his composure, Sahil went up to the other vehicle to check on the condition of the occupant. The Santro turned out to be vacant and Sahil only recovered a police uniform with the name tag of Inspector Shyam Sunder, inside the vehicle.

Meanwhile, a police patrol car had arrived on the scene. After Sahil had apprised them of the situation, a police team started searching the area. Suddenly, a policeman discovered a body inside a park about 50 metres away from the spot of the accident. The body was later confirmed as that of Inspector Shyam Sunder.

Top police officials arrived at the scene, but the cops failed to find any connections between the accident and the body. Apart from the distance between the two spots, there was a 5-foot iron grill separating the accident site from the body.

"My son was on his way home in his Swift (DL3CBJ2620) when he rammed into this car. He immediately called us and told us about the incident. When we arrived at the spot we found no one in the Santro car (no. UP16F5548). We only recovered a policeman's uniform. But after half an hour the cops discovered a body inside a park near the spot. They told us that this was the body of Inspector Shyam Sunder" said Sushil Gupta, Sahil's father.

The Inspector was posted in Kalyanpuri area of east Delhi as Inspector Investigation. He was previously working as a Sub-Inspector in Okhla police station and was promoted as an Inspector 4 months ago. Police officers are suspecting foul play in the case because the body was found in suspicious conditions and there were cut wounds on the neck. According to the police, they have detained Sahil for questioning and are investigating this case from every possible angle.
