Delhi man arrested for setting wife's bed on fire
Delhi: A man was arrested from the Neb Sarai area in southeast Delhi after he set his wife's bed on fire.

The victim made a call to the PCR after which Naresh was arrested for house trespass and threatening his wife.

"We have arrested the accused Naresh after his wife made a call to the PCR and complained that Naresh set her bed on fire after forcibly entering her room," said a senior police officer.

Naresh allegedly used to torture his wife for dowry and thrashed her over petty issues. Unable to bear, she had complained to the Crime Against Women Cell. An FIR was lodged against Naresh. But Naresh apologised and gave a written statement to the police that he will never harass his wife again. Assured by his words, she withdrew her complaint.

"When she took back her complaint, Naresh went back to his usual ways. He started assaulting her again.

She then approached the National Commission for Women (NCW) for help. The NCW provided her with a room where she started staying with a friend. But Naresh insisted his wife go to bed with him. When she refused, he set her bed on fire," said the police.
