Delhi: Man stabbed to death for selling defective mobile

New Delhi: Four youths allegedly stabbed to death a man for selling one of them a "defective" mobile
phone, police said on Monday.

Twenty one-year-old Manoj, 19-year-old Sumit and 21-year-old Kishan were arrested after they allegedly brutally murdered Javed, also in his 20s, on Friday night. The victim suffered 17 stab injuries.

Irfan, another accused, is absconding.

"Kishan had purchased a mobile phone for Rs 5,000 from Javed about 45 days ago ago. As the phone turned out to be defective, Kishan returned the same and demanded his money back," a senior police official said.

He said Javed did not return the money and he along with his brothers allegedly beat up Kishan and his friend Irfan.

"This provoked Kishan to take revenge. They roped in Sumit and Manoj," the official said.

"On Diwali night, the accused called Javed and they had drinks. When he became unconscious they took him to an unoccupied room in Tigri area and stabbed him to death," the official said.

The official said they zeroed in on the youths as the victim was seen last with them.
