Delhi: Principal denies male students entry inside school
New Delhi: Students of New Delhi's Sarvodaya Vidyalaya school were denied entry inside the school premises on Tuesday morning after the principal accused the male students of misbehaving with the female students and teachers.

The notice issued by the school Principal read that only girls would be allowed inside the building and classes will be held for boys only in the evenings.

The ratio of the male students to the female students in the school is highly uneven. There are 1600 female students enrolled in the school, while the number of male students is just 270.

The parents and students began protests outside the school. The students were permitted to enter the school compound after they and their parents signed an undertaking that said:

  • Maintenance of discipline and punctuality in the school and class
  • Regard and respect for teachers
  • Ethical behaviour towards girl students
  • Maintenance of school property
Failing the above, the student may be rusticated from school without any further notice.
