New Delhi:
The doctors at Safdarjung hospital, one of the biggest government hospitals in Delhi, called off their strike on Sunday afternoon.
The doctors went on a strike early on Sunday after relatives of a patient who died attacked some doctors and nurses and even damaged hospital property alleging negligence.
They alleged negligence on part of the doctors but doctors said they did their best.
The doctors then said that they will not resume work unless provided with proper security measures.
Family members of those who are admitted in the hospital were going through a tough time due to the strike.
"My wife is admitted in the maternity wall since last night. This morning as she started getting labour pains the doctors just handed over a few prescriptions telling us that they can't do anything as they are on a strike," said the husband of a patient.
Another troubled family member said " I had to go through a lot of trouble to get my sister treated here. She had fallen this morning and received injuries. Doctors here are not admitting her. I am troubled. What can I do?"
