Delhi:
For a 12-year-old Delhi girl and her two young brothers the nightmare has finally ended.
The driver of their school van, the man who raped them for over eighteen months, is now behind the bars .
Lalit Rattawal, a 32-year-old Delhi University graduate, was made to pay for his deeds as an irate mob trashed him black and blue when the incident came to light.
The children, his victims, told the court on Saturday that Lalit would drug them and along with his four accomplices, who are boys studying in class nine, force the girl and her brothers to get physical with each other. They also shot videos of them on their cellphones and then raped the girl. These men also forced the girl's two little brothers to sodomy.
A lot of it happened at the house of one of the older boys whose parents are teachers and would be out all day.
When NDTV spoke to the girl, here is what she said.
NDTV: Did he drug you? How did he drug you.
Girl: He used give me injections, pills , alcohol.
NDTV: Did he beat you as well?
Girl: Yes.
While the girl and her two little brothers were going through the ordeal, the parents say they had no idea of what was happening until the mother noticed syringe marks on the girl's arms.
After the daughter opened up to the mother, the mother accosted Lalit, but he threatened to harm her. Hence, the mother approached a neighbor who called up the police.
The girl's rape has been medically confirmed. However, the police are yet to confirm if the boys were being sodomised. Also, the cellphones on which the videos were taken are yet to be recovered.
While this case has brought a glaring reality to light, the bigger concern now is that how many more children in the country are victims of such horrific abuse which are rarely reported?
