New Delhi: After two people died and eight were injured in a stampede at the New Delhi railway station on Sunday, Railway authorities decided to stop the sale of platform tickets at the station to control the massive summer rush the station sees every year.
But the critical question is why do the authorities always wake up after the worst has happened?
While they are still thinking of shifting east-bound trains from the New Delhi station to the newly-constructed Anand Vihar Terminal to ease the rush, the New Delhi Railway Station was as usual overcrowded on Monday.
On the other hand, platforms at the Anand Vihar Station wore a deserted look with only a few trains in and out of the station.
Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee has ordered a probe into the incident, but a reality check at ground zero (see video below) proves no lessons have been learnt yet.
