Delhi: Wife of Brazilian rape accused claims her husband is innocent
New Delhi: Whether the coffee that was allegedly offered to Brazilian woman by her landlord was laced with sedatives is still unknown. But on Thursday a Delhi court sent the accused, 35-year-old Amarjeet Singh, to 14-day judicial custody.

However, Amarjeet's wife Loveleen claimed her husband cannot do such a gruesome act and is being framed.

"My husband is innocent. The Brazilian woman is framing us because she wanted to live in our house for free.

She is simply conspiring against us. The college in which she was studying belongs to a relative of one the rivals of Amarjeet and the rival might have planted this. My husband cannot do something like this and it will be proved soon," said Loveleen.

Meanwhile, the university where the victim is a student of Mass Communication course has denied any kind of involvement in the case.

The victim told the police that she came to India on June 7 and stayed in a hotel in southeast Delhi. Thereafter she met a property dealer named Ujagar Singh in Greater Kailash area while hunting for a rented accommodation. Ujagar Singh then took the Brazilian woman to the house of Amarjeet. He then offered the woman to stay at his place for a few days without paying anything. The victim then shifted to Amarjeet's place on June 19.

According to the victim, the accused offered her a cup of coffee on June 20 and after consuming it, she fell unconscious. When the victim woke up, she realised she was raped. When the victim objected and questioned Amarjeet, he took away her passport and threatened her of dire consequences.

On June 21, Amarjeet again raped the victim but the woman remained silent, as she was scared. But on June 27 when Amarjeet again tried to rape her, the victim couldn't take anymore and after a day registered a complaint in the CR Park police station.
