Doctor, three others arrested for allegedly running sex determination racket

Bareilly: Four persons, including a doctor, were arrested for allegedly running a sex determination racket from Prem Nagar area in a sting operation by police, a senior officer said in Bareilly.

Doctor Arun Kumar Shrama, technician Jhamanlal, tout Purushottam and Kamaljeet were arrested from Banke Bihari Charitable Trust from Rajendra Nagar colony last night for allegedly running the sex determination racket, ASP Triveni Singh said.

On a tip off that the sex determination racket was operating in the area, a trap was laid, he said.

As a part of the scheme, a pregnant policewoman accompanied by two others was sent posing as a patient for sex determination, the ASP said.

As soon as doctor Sharma conducted the test, a raid was conducted and he along with three others was arrested, he added. ASP Singh said that the ultrasound machine has been seized.

All the four accused have been sent to jail this morning.
