Doctors remove whistle stuck in boy's bronchi

Madurai: Doctors at the Government Rajaji hospital in Madurai have removed a whistle that got stuck in the bronchi of a nine-year-old boy.

The whistle, located with the help of X-ray, was removed using endoscope, the Head of the Ear, Nose, Throat Department Dr KR Kannappan told reporters on Saturday.

The boy had accidentally swallowed the whistle while whistling a song.

When the boy came to the hospital on Wednesday, he could not produce any sound, the doctor said,

According to hospital statistics, 150 children had been treated for swallowing such items as coins and whistles in the last three months.
