New Delhi: A man has been held guilty of raping and assaulting an 81-year-old woman and later setting her on fire at her posh South Delhi residence.
The widowed woman was beaten up, raped and strangled with a dupatta before being set on fire by her domestic help Neeraj Saifi. Her body was found on the second floor of the four-storey apartment in Greater Kailash II on July 7, 2014.
Neeraj had been employed for seven months. He was arrested soon after the incident.
The Delhi court hearing the case has held Neeraj guilty of rape, murder and destruction of evidence. The quantum of sentence will be announced on February 9.
The woman was living in the apartment since the death of her husband in 2005.
