Drug de-addiction centre owners booked on torture charges

Moga, Punjab: A criminal case was today registered against six owners of a drug de-addiction centre at Khosa Pando village in the district on charges of torturing an inmate.

Gurdial Singh was admitted to the centre about three months back. During his stay at the centre, Singh was allegedly tortured by the owners, police said. When his relatives came to know about the torture, they got him hospitalised in local civil hospital.

After recording the statement of Singh, police had registered a case of illegal confinement and torture under various sections of the IPC against the owners of the centre.
