Drugs worth Rs 200 cr seized in Jalandhar, two NRIs among four arrested

Jalandhar: Four persons, including two Non-Resident Indians, were arrested with intoxicants worth over Rs 200 crore in the international market on Saturday.

"On a tip off, a police team raided a house in the Garhshankar area of Nawanshahr district and seized over 34 kgs Methamphetamine and 19 kgs of Ephedrine, which are worth over Rs 200 crore," Gurpreet Dev Kaur, Inspector General Jalanadhar Zone-2, told reporters.

"These intoxicants were generally used in rave parties," he said.

The four arrested have been identified as Amandeep Singh Cheema, Sukhwinder Singh, Harkamaljeet Singh alias Roopa and Harjinder Singh. While Amandeep has a Permanent Resident status in New Zealand, Harkamaljeet Singh is based in the United States.

The kingpin of the gang, Ranjeet Singh, who owns several properties in Delhi and other cities, is still absconding, says police.
