Emergency ends at Mumbai airport

Mumbai: Flights in and out of Mumbai have not been delayed because of a state of emergency that was declared at the airport earlier this evening.

A Fed Ex flight from Dubai to Bangalore made an emergency landing in Mumbai after its crew suspected there was a fire in the cargo hold.

The plane landed at 6.24 pm and was then moved off the runway so that it could be checked by fire safety experts.

By 6.56 pm, the plane had been cleared, with experts saying there was no visible sign of a fire.

Airport officials say the emergency did not add to other delays faced by flights in and out of Mumbai this evening.
