Rohtak, Haryana: An engineering student was beaten to death allegedly by his lover's family members at Sanghi village, police said on Thursday.
Deepak (21), a third-year engineering student and a resident of Deemana village, had on Wednesday come along with his friend to visit his lover at Sanghi, about 14 kms from here.
The couple was spotted by the girl's family, who allegedy assaulted Deepak late on Wednesday night, Sanjay Deswal, PRO of Rohtak Police said.
They took the girl back to their house and thrashed the boy, who later died on the spot, he said.
The body of the victim was found yesterday morning at the community centre by villagers, who later informed the police.
A case has been registered against five persons, including four family members of the girl, on the complaint of the victim's uncle.
The mother of the girl has been arrested while her uncle, two brothers and a neighbour are absconding, he said.
