Jamshedpur: The body of a fourth-yearengineering student of National Institute of Technology (NIT)was found hanging in his hostel room in Adityapur, in adjoining Saraikela-Kharswan district ofJharkhand on Wednesday.
The body of Vinay Pant, a meritorious student ofelectrical engineering and a resident of Uttarakhand, wasfound hanging in his hostel room and was taken to the Tata MainHospital. He was declared brought dead, hospital sources said.
Pant had already been offeredjob by two companies, including Jindal Steel, during thecampus selection process and had recently cleared the CAT entrance examination.
"We are investigating the matter", Acting Director ofNIT, S B L Saxena said. Saxena, who went to the hospital on being informed, saidhe could make any comments only after discussing with fellowstudents and concerned officials.
The incident took place barely four days after a third-year student of a polytechnic institute allegedly committedsuicide after he failed to get a job in the ongoing campusselection recently.
