The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) octroi chief, Hemant Nikam, was allegedly attacked by a truck driver ferrying sand illegally. The driver rammed into Nikam's official car near the octroi booth at Kharadi on Wednesday night.
Nikam said he had gone to inspect the booth when he saw trucks carrying construction material passing without paying octroi. When he stopped a truck and asked for octroi receipt, the driver could not produce it. The two had an altercation. When Nikam sat in his car the driver rammed into his vehicle. However, Nikam escaped unhurt.
