Ex-armyman allegedly shoves pistol into salesman's mouth
Bangalore: Dr (Brig) Ashok M Chacko (Retd) landed at the Indiranagar police station lockup in Bangalore  after he allegedly shoved the barrel of his licensed pistol into the mouth of a terrified mobile phone salesman.

Chacko, who had stopped at a mobile phone showroom on CMH Road on his way to a meeting at a reputed hospital, allegedly brandished his gun at the staff after they asked him to pay for the three mobile phones worth Rs 4,000 each that he was leaving the shop with.

Dr Chacko, reportedly a surgeon, lives at the Defence Colony in Indiranagar. "When I asked him to pay up he whipped my colleague Raghu, manager Bharath Gowda and me with his stick," said Afroz Pasha, a salesman at the mobile shop.

A few moments later, Chacko reportedly pulled out his pistol and brandished it at Gowda, Afroz and Raghu. As Chacko left the shop in a huff he swore at the crowd that had gathered outside the shop and even brandished his pistol at them.

Before the police reached the spot, some members of the crowd had assaulted Chacko and damaged the car he had hired.

"A month back, he asked me to deliver a phone to his house. I did so, and a few days later he called me up once again and asked me to show the operations.

When I reached his house he did not let me leave for several hours. He asked me to get some food for him and even asked me to help him wear clothes.

When I refused, he pointed his pistol at me. I got a little scared and quietly did all he asked me to."

Manjunath GB, assistant commissioner of police, Ulsoor Sub-Division, who was at the Indiranagar police station, when Chacko was brought there, said, "Chacko is mentally imbalanced.

We will take him for a medical checkup and take appropriate action against him. He had earlier harassed his foreign tenants and the case is still pending."

Inspector K V Srinivas of the Indiranagar police station, said, "He has been harassing his neighbours for the past few months. His behaviour has gone to the extreme. A day earlier, a case was registered against him after he assaulted a taxi driver."
