Bangalore: A 24-year-old software engineer in Bangalore has filed a harassment complaint against a Kumara Krupa (state government guest house) employee for threatening to kill her if she didn't marry him.
Bhavani who works for a leading IT company said Ramesh Surya, who works in the administrative section of Kumara Krupa, was her classmate between 2004-2007.
Bhavani came from Gulbarga to Bangalore for higher studies. Surya started harassing her through phone calls and SMSes. Initially she ignored the calls but then Surya began to harass her to marry him. "After my course, I started working with Infosys. But Surya started to come unannounced and create a ruckus in front of everyone," Bhavani told police.
Fed up, she left the company for another job and changed her number, but the harassment continued. Surya managed to get her new number and continued with his SMSes and phone calls. "He didn't spare me even when I went to the US on an official trip," Bhavani said adding that Surya even started threatening her and her office staff with dire consequences if his demands were not met.
"He used to come to my office and threaten to kill me and my family if I did not marry him. He said that he was influential and would not let me live in peace," she said adding that Surya even started calling the MD of the company, complaining about her. The police have registered a complaint against Surya and are on the lookout for him.
