Pune:
A Noble cause went a somewhat off-track when medicines distributed at an anemia awareness programme early this week turned out to be beyond the use-by date.
The Health Centre of Bharati Vidyapeeth University Medical College (BVUMC) at Lawale village distributed 50 bottles of expired medicine on Monday.
The blunder came to light when a schoolgirl in Mulshi taluka pointed out the date on a bottle.
BVUMC dean and principal Dr Vivek Saoji said, "It was just an oversight. Bottles of Orofer XT prescribed for anaemic patients were outdated. We will ensure preventive measures are taken with immediate effect."
