Malda: Three policemen including an assistant sub-inspector were injured when crude bombs stored in a police station near here exploded on Monday afternoon.
The bombs, which were not defused before being stored, led to the blast at Chanchol police station, 65 km off here, seriously injuring ASI Mukul Mohanta, District Magistrate Sridhar Kumar Ghosh said.
The injured policemen were taken to Chanchol Gramin Hospital and then shifted to Malda Sadar hospital where the condition of the ASI was stated to be critical, police said.
The explosions occurred in the storeroom of the police station where a large quantity of crude bombs seized during recent raids were kept.
Senior police officers have rushed to the spot, they said.
