A government school in Gurdaspur district has earned the dubious distinction of having the lowest pass percentage in Class X exam conducted by the Punjab State Education Board (PSEB) as only one of its 139 examinees managed to pass.
According to official sources, a total of 139 students had appeared in the matric examination but 138 of them were declared failed. The remaining student got compartment in mathematics paper when the results were announced recently.
Similarly, 140 students of the same school had appeared in the plus two examination but only three students managed to obtain pass marks.
When contacted, District Education Officer Gurmeet Singh said stern action would be taken against the teachers of the school if they were found wanting in professionalism.
