New Delhi: Police on Friday unearthed a factory which allegedly manufactured cold drinks and marketed it as that of prominent brands with the arrest of six persons, including a minor.
The factory allegedly producing the drinks under the brand names of Pepsi, Coke, Sprite and Thumbs Up was raided in north-east Delhi's Nandnagari, police said.
"We have arrested six persons in connection with manufacturing fake cold drinks and running a bottling plant. However, the factory owner Rakesh Tomar is absconding and efforts are on to nab him," a senior police official said.
The products were supplied to local markets, almost daily. About 1,000 bottles were seized, he said, adding that the workers used to enter the factory through its back gate as the front gate used to remain locked.
