Fake Delhi police constable arrested

New Delhi: A city-based shoe shop owner has been arrested along with two girls, and a fake identity card of Delhi police was recovered from him which he allegedly used for various purposes including for getting entry into VIP functions, police said on Friday.

Harshpreet Jolly (29) was arrested along with the two girls when he made an abortive attempt to evade checking of his Santro car near the Delhi Transport Authority office in Rohini on Thursday, they said.

A fake identity card of Delhi police constable was also recovered from him, they added.

"Face of Harspreet Jolly was found scanned and replaced (with the original) in the identity card after he showed it to the policemen during the checking," a senior police officer said.

The two girls were allegedly supporting his claim by asking the policemen to consider the identity card as a genuine one.

"On search of Jolly's car, a toy revolver similar to the service revolver used by Delhi police was also found," the officer said.

The car was seized along with the fake identity card and the toy revolver.

One of the girls, accompanying Jolly, was found to be a resident of Haiderpur while another was from Ambedkar Nagar. Jolly, who too is a resident of Ambedkar Nagar, runs a shoe shop in Haiderpur, police said.

"He used to get free entry in parking lots, cinema halls and other places of amusement by using the forged I-Card," a police officer claimed.
