Malda: Fake Indian currency with a face value of Rs 15.65 lakh was seized in two incidents in Malda district and one persons was arrested.
A packet containing counterfeit notes of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 denominations having a total face value of Rs 14 lakh was seized by BSF at Kaliachak today, the BSF said.
The packet was thrown over the border fencing from Bangladesh side near Sasani border outpost.
Meanwhile, acting on a tip off, the police yesterday arrested one person from Engrej Bazar area for allegedly possessing fake notes with a face value of Rs 1.65 lakh.
The police said they arrested the man from Bihar from the regulated market at Engrej Bazar.
He was carrying counterfeit notes of Rs 500 denomination.
