Fatehgarh Sahib: six killed, 27 injured in road mishap

Fatehgarh Sahib: Six persons, including a Delhi resident, were killed and 27 injured when a mini bus collided with a truck near village Bagharia in Fatehgarh Sahib on Sunday morning.

A mini bus carrying 35 employees of a catering firm, was on its way to Saidpura from Bathinda via Chandigarh after serving at a wedding when it met with the mishap around 7:30 am, police said.

The deceased were identified as mini bus driver Charanjit Singh, Fateh Chand (a resident of Azad Market in Delhi), Robert (Assam), Sekhar and Sahib Singh (Madhya Pradesh).

Truck driver Kamaljit Singh succumbed to his injuries at Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, police said.

As many as 27 passengers of the bus suffered injuries and were taken to Rajindra hospital hospital.
Mulepur police registered a case against the truck driver Kamaljit and started the probe into the matter, according to police.

The state government has announced Rs 1 lakh each for the family members of the deceased and free treatment for all injured, spokesman of District Public Relations Department said.
