Moga, Punjab: A man has been arrested for allegedly killing his minor daughter after he came to know that she was having an affair with a local boy, police said.
Satpal Singh was taken into custody yesterday for allegedly killing 17-year-old Kamaljeet Kaur.
Singh was against the relationship of his daughter with the boy belonging to Thathi Bhai and was allegedly enraged after he came to know that Kaur was planning to elope with him, they said. He then strangled her when she was sleeping and informed his relatives that his daughter had committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance.
Receiving a tip-off, the police sent the body for post-mortem which confirmed that she was strangled to death.
The father has allegedly confessed his crime, they said.
A case has been registered under relevant section of IPC, they added.
