Jamshedpur: A father-daughter duo was arrested for taking a bribe from a contractor for clearing his pending bills in Rajasthan's Sirohi district, police said today.
A team of anti-corruption bureau on Friday arrested the two while they were accepting Rs 20000 bribe from contractor Mukesh Bairath, they said.
Junior Engineer Ramlal Meena, who was earlier posted at Panchayat Samiti Abu Road, had demanded the bribe from the contractor for clearing his pending bills of Rs 4.75 lakh.
"Ramlal had been transferred to Ahor Panchayat Samiti in Jalore district in December 2010 but he did not join and continued to stay in Abu road," police said.
Coincidently, his daughter Priyanka was appointed on the same post in Abu road office in January 2011 and both were demanding the bribe from the contractor.
After verification of the complaint, a trap was laid and both of them were caught while accepting the bribe, he said.
