Mumbai:
Opposition over formation of a housing society led to a 50-year-old doctor from Thane getting kidnapped for two days.
According to police, the incident occurred with Dr Jayant Desai, resident of Purushottam Plaza at Kasarwadvali in Thane who had apparently taken the lead in registering his building as a housing society. The move faced stiff opposition from developer of the building Dharmendra Jindal.
In his complaint, Desai has alleged that on Monday while he was on his way to sub-registrar's office, Jindal allegedly tried to prevent him from going ahead. At around 1.30 pm, Jindal yanked him in an auto rickshaw and took him to Pokhran Road. From there, he was escorted to an empty flat in a Maruti van.
For two days, Desai was purportedly tortured physically and mentally by Jindal and four other men including the auto driver.
