Fire at high-rise in Mumbai's Bandra, no injuries

Mumbai: A huge fire broke out at the nine-storey Housing Development and Infrastructure Limited (HDIL) building in Bandra on Thursday.  Everyone inside the building was, however, evacuated immediately.

At least a dozen fire engines and six water tankers were rushed to the spot. The fire raged on for over three hours before it could be brought under control. The cause of the fire is not yet known. (See pics)

A fire broke out at HDIL Tower, Bandra East at 1.30 pm today. The reasons are not yet ascertained. No loss of life or casualties were reported. The HDIL building is completely insured. All our data and other documents are safe. We have got back ups of our IT-systems. HDIL will function as usual from our Kurla premises. We are doing all we possibly can to assist authorites to take stock of this unfortunate situation.
