Mumbai:
The wedding reception of a doctor in Mumbai turned out to be a scene from a movie when his first wife, Rama Singh, barged in unexpectedly, claiming they were not divorced yet.
An ugly scene ensued, and Dr Dilip Singh Chauhan allegedly beat up his first wife.
"Why did this have to happen to me? I loved him so much that I would have done anything for him. I caught him this time, but who knows how many other affairs he's had. This is a clear case of bigamy. We are not divorced yet and he has no right to marry another woman," said a distressed Rama Singh.
"We rushed to Mumbai from Uttar Pradesh when we heard about the wedding and headed for the reception at Oshiwara. Then things got out of control and the groom and his relatives beat us up," said Manoj Singh, Rama's brother.
A case has been registered against Chauhan. "He has been booked under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code," said API Balasaheb Khade, Oshiwara Police Station.
